‘Putting ecology to work in a changing world’ #ECEcol17
16 August 2017 from 7-9 pm AEST (UTC +10)
Are you an Early Career Ecologist (ECE) keen to share your research without leaving your desk?
In the lead-up to INTECOL 2017 in Beijing, the Ecological Society of Australia’s Early Career Working Group will be hosting a twitter symposium as part of the online conference organised by the International Network of Next-Generation Ecologists (INNGE). The Twitter symposium #ECEcol17 will showcase the work being done by early career ecologists across the world.
The theme we have chosen for this symposium is ‘Putting ecology to work in a changing world’, as it merges the themes of both INTECOL 2017 (‘Ecology and Civilization in a Changing World’) and the upcoming joint meeting of the Ecological Society of Australia and the New Zealand Ecological Society – EcoTAS 2017 (‘Putting Ecology to Work’).
If you are an ECE (see below) and are available to present at the symposium time, submit your abstract now to be part of the program!
Abstracts need to include two elements: (1) a tweetable title (140 characters) that includes your twitter @ and the hashtag #ECEcol17; (2) a tweetable conclusion (140 characters including #ECEcol17) that summarises your main finding or poses a question for discussion. You may also include a graphical abstract (single image: hand-drawn, photo, graph etc.) if you wish, but this is not compulsory and will not affect your application.
Abstracts close 4 August 2017. Please submit via: http://tinyurl.com/ECEcol17
Details on symposium schedule and presentation formats will be sent to presenters by 7 August 2017. The length of presentations will depend on the number of proposals we receive. We define an ECE as any ecologist (researcher or practitioner) who considers themselves at an early career stage.
This symposium has been organised by the Early Career Working Group of the Ecological Society of Australia. For further information please contact the VP-Research (VP3@ecolsoc.org.au).
